Carey Gauzens is a licensed clinical social worker iand certified psychodramatist. She works as a psychotherapist in Alexandria, Virginia, with the Center for Pastoral Counseling of Virginia. She is a former adjunct faculty member at Marymount University where she taught in the graduate program in Psychology, specializing in counseling theories and skills development, group psychotherapy and recognizing and treating mental illness.
Carey received her Masters in Social Work in 1990, and completed the St. Elizabeth's Hospital intensive 11 month psychodrama training internship in 1998. She has worked in the mental health field, providing counseling for more than 25 years.
Carey's clinical specialties include working with adults and adolescents around issues of grief and loss, transition, anxiety, stress and depression, and recovery from all types of childhood or adult trauma. Carey works extensively with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and was trained in the Therapeutic Spiral Model of psychodrama. She worked for several years on a Trauma Team, using the Therapeutic Spiral Model to work with sexual, physical and emotional/verbal abuse survivors.
Carey is also licensed in the state of California, and is available to provide trainings or facilitate groups by invitation.
Carey sees individual clients, provides trainings and facilitates support, educational and therapy groups upon request.
