Suzie Jary, LCSW-S, TEP, Fort Worth, TX, provides psychotherapy and counseling and has over 25 years of experience in the addiction, mental health, grief and loss and career development fields. Currently, she is Faculty and Clinical Coordinator for the Human Service Provider/Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate Program at Weatherford College in Weatherford, TX, 30 minutes west of Fort Worth. In April, 2016, she received the Alva S. Smith "Professional of the Year" Award, from the Fort Worth Chapter of TAAP, Texas Association of Addiction Professionals. In May, 2018, she was selected as "Faculty Member of the Year," by her teaching colleagues at the College.
Suzie is also a recognized specialist in the issues performing and creative artists face. She has spoken internationallly and domestically about artists' career development and career transition issues. She was profiled in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and New York Daily News for her work with Career Transition For Dancers, CTFD, a national not-for-profit organization. Suzie worked with the organization for 22 years, traveling nationwide presenting action-based, career development workshops for professional dance companies, college dance major programs and dance conservatories. She received the Mary Warner Award for Service to Dance in August, 2014, from the Dance Council of North Texas for her work with CTFD. She is an invited speaker in Higher Education for Fine Arts departments.
She trained and worked in New York City before relocating back to Fort Worth, TX. She graduated from Hunter College School of Social Work, CUNY, in New York, NY and trained with renowned psychodramatists, Louise Lipman, TEP, and Tian Dayton, TEP. Suzie's background is as a professional musical theatre dancer having performed in Europe, in National Tours and on Broadway.
