My scholarship work at the University of Alabama is on immigrant Latino families and the promotion of biculturalism as a protective factor in the acculturation process. I have been doing community-based participatory research with parents and adolescents for over 12 years. School & community-based youth court and other prevention programs for positive youth development are enhanced with sociodrama, psychodrama techniques and sociometry. These methods engage families while increasing effectiveness of program. The evidence-based bicultural skills training program, Entre Dos Mundos/Between Two Worlds, uses an acculturation model that is positioned on the Diamond of Opposites.

At the 2010 ASGPP Conference, my work with Paul Smokowski, CP, was honored with the Collaborators' Award. We developed a bicultural skills training program, Entre Dos Mundos, that is based on acculturation research and implemented through psychodrama techniques. This was the first psychodrama intervention research funded by the Centers for Disease Control.

I serve on the American Board of Examiners from 2007-10, and 2017-20, and am also on the editorial team for the ASGPP Journal.

While doing a psychodrama internship at Saint Elizabeth's Campus in Washington, DC, my primary trainer was Linda Bianche. During the PAT process, Ann E. Hale and Donna Little were my trainers.
