In the mid-1970's I began psychodrama training with Bob Siroka in NJ and NY. In 1981 I passed the first written exam for psychodrama certification. While in NJ I was a consultant for 2 residential substance dependence programs and provided weekly psychodrama for residents in treatment.
In 1990 I moved to Pittsburgh where I became a TEP under Ellie Irwin's supervision. At Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, I was Clinical Administrator for several therapy programs including the Creative and Expressive Arts (CEAT) program. For 10 years I was a trainer for the PA Department of Health, Office of Drug and Alcohol programs. Additionally I had a private training group and provided numerous demonstrations and training opportunities for mental health professionals in Pennsylvania.
After moving to the Cincinnati area in 1990, I initially worked as a psychodramatist at the Eating Disorders Center at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. In 1997, during a 6 month stint in South Korea, I directed a monthly weekend-long training program for 32 mental health professionals from throughout the country. I also supervised one of the psychologists from the group.
From 1995 until retiring in 2005, I was director of the psychodrama program at the Cincinnati VA. I conducted weekly psychodrama groups in the Substance Dependence program, ran monthly psychodrama trainings and provided supervision and consultation for staff, psychology interns and psychiatric residents. I described my experiences there in "Psychodrama with Veterans: The Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center Experience," in Psychodrama in the 21st Century, edited by Jacob Gershoni. In addition, I provided psychodrama training and supervision to mental health professionals at several other VA's including Pittsburgh, Colorado Springs, and Iron Mountain, MI.
I served on the ABE throughout the 1990?s, as Chair, Vice-Chair, and Treasurer. I continue to grade CP and TEP exams and to be an on-site Board representative on request. A Fellow of ASGPP, have been a member continuously since 1977, have served on the Journal Options Committee and am currently a member of the Awards Committee. I have presented at numerous professional conferences including the annual ASGPP meetings. Reelected to the ABE in 2009, I served as Board President this past year. Recently reelected for a new term, I will serve from 2012 until 2015 and am Chair of the Admissions Committee.
I have been the primary supervisor for several PATs, all of whom have become TEPs.
I can also offer supervision by phone, email and Skype. I have begun training workshops for groups on request. In 2011, I led two 2-day workshops in Colorado Springs for VA staff and students.
